The Crooks operated like a well-oiled machine as they tamed The Barakos, 109-73 at the start of the 18th Philippine Sports Association-Crosstown Auto Centre Spring League, Saturday, March 15, at the Father Michael Troy Catholic High School.

The Crooks started cold and slow but started heating up in the waning minutes of the first half to build a 33-point lead, 55-22 and never looked back. Last season’s MVP Paolo Librea and James Maglalang led the charge with a combined 35 points.

Wes Palo topscored for The Crooks with 19 points while Joseph Bencio and Ian Zanmar led the losing cause for the newcomer Barakos with 22 baskets, apiece. “Mabilis ang Crooks, pero nag enjoy kami sa game, ayos lang, good exercise,” said Alain Abiera of The Barakos.

In the other games, X-Men silenced the Pythons, 90-58, The Force subdued R&D Bobcat Services, 81-72, Cobra Kai stopped Xtra, 80-73, Piccolino outlasted WDDC, 85-55 and Extreme edged L Massage, 86-85.

JP Padilla, scoreless in the first half,  tried to rally his teammates in the final half by drilling in 27 points but time was no longer on their side as the Extreme held on to a one-point win.

In the lone Master’s game, Pang Asar defeated Abe-Abe, 80-59.

Games will resume today, Sunday, March 16, at the Archbishop Oscar Romero High School, according to PSA president Joey Doctolero.(pinoy edmonton news)
