Highly-favored Green Team managed to beat the White Team in three sets, 25-23, 22-25, 25-16 to capture the Philippine Sports Association-Crosstown Auto Centre Coed Volleyball crown, Sunday, March 30, at the St.Clement Catholic School.

Green capitalized on White’s errors in the third set to break from the 12-12 deadlock and nailed their rivals at the 16th point as they padded their lead en route to victory.

League most valuable player Kris Sac and Alvin Lomboy led the attack in the first set and gained the momentum but co-MVP Joy Reyes and the Whites bounced back in the second set with a better defense and well-placed shots.

Black Team, which lost to the Green squad in the semis, placed third after besting Red Team, 3-0.

PSA Edmonton vice-president Gary Perpetua awarded the trophies to the winners in simple ceremonies.

Perpetua said they are hoping to come up with a better and exciting league in the summer and expressed their gratitude to the volunteers and main sponsor Joe Medina, president of Crosstown Auto Centre for their support.

“Hindi naman talaga magka kilala lahat ng players dito sa simula ng liga.  Ngayon, lahat kaibigan na,” said Perpetua citing the positive effect of the league.

The other members of the champion team are Rodel Rosete, Erwin Galgo, Armando de Guzman, Nestor Baui, Oliver Cabarubias, Marsha Sarno, Lou Baui, Aireen Gorman, Shiela Longpoy and Izzy Aguilar.(pinoy edmonton news)
