At approximately 9:32 a.m. on Thursday, May 29, 2014, Edmonton Fire Rescue Services responded to a call from a woman walking in Rundle Park who reported seeing a body floating in the North Saskatchewan River.  EFRS deployed two water rescue boats and pulled the body from the river and transported it to the Gold Bar Boat Launch.  The body was then transported to the Medical Examiner’s Office.

On Friday, May 30, 2014, the Edmonton Medical Examiner identified the deceased as missing Edmonton woman Louise Veillard, 26.  There are no indications of foul play and the death is considered to be non-criminal.  As the death is considered non-criminal, no further information will be released by police.

Background:
Louise Veillard, 26, was last seen near the McKernan/Belgravia LRT Station before noon on Friday, May 2, 2014.  Veillard’s disappearance was out of character and there were concerns for her well-being.  After an appeal for public assistance in locating the missing woman, and an exhaustive search by EPS Southwest Division Patrol officers and community members in the river valley, the EPS Missing Persons Unit took over the investigation on Monday, May 5, 2014.
