EPL is Library of the Year!

News Release

EPL – Proud to be Library of the Year 2014

In the world of libraries, you could call it the Nobel Prize or Stanley Cup. Whatever you call it, the Edmonton Public Library has won it!

We’re so excited to spread the words and tell the world – the Edmonton Public Library (EPL) has been unanimously named2014 Library of the Year by Library Journal magazine and Gale Cengage Learning. EPL is the first ever Canadian library to receive this prestigious award and we think it’s safe to say – we’re kind of a big deal!

This award is the highest honour of its kind and recognizes a public library that most profoundly demonstrates service to the community; creativity and innovation in developing specific community programs or a dramatic increase in library usage; and leadership in creating programs that can be emulated by other libraries. Overall, the nomination guidelines state “all libraries are good, some are great.” They want great.

Edmonton has a great library system and amazing supporters. If you’re a supporter of EPL, spread the words and share this exciting news using these images on Facebook and Twitter.
