Discover Downtown Edmonton’s History and Architecture With The DBA’s Core Crew!

How did Edmonton get its name? What was Edmonton’s tallest building in 1972? At what
historic building will you find the best example of Gothic Architecture in our city? Can you
name all four of Edmonton’s sister cities?

You’ll find the answer to these and other questions on the DBA’s free, guided walking tours.
The Core Crew — our team of five, friendly, post- secondary students — lead these 90-minute
tours weekdays thru August 22. The tours highlight Downtown’s history, architecture,
landmarks, and public art. Members of the public are invited join us Mon, Tues, Wed and
Friday at 1pm; and at 2:30 pm on Thursdays. Remember to wear good walking shoes and bring
a bottle of water!

When they’re not giving tours, The Core Crew are busy tending to their other duties as
Downtown Ambassadors, which include:

 Providing helpful information to tourists and locals regarding Downtown, transit,
parking, festivals and special events.
 Help keep Downtown clean by participating in Capital City Clean Up.
 Assisting at Downtown festivals and special events.
 Reporting unsafe conditions, graffiti, and vagrancy around the core to the appropriate
authorities.

In their bright red jackets and caps, Core Crew members are a recognizable and friendly
presence that helps make Downtown a welcoming and vibrant place.
