Filipino Cultural Day in Slave Lake, a day of fun, laughter and exercise too

Filipinos in Slave Lake forgot their worries even for just a day as they celebrated the Filipino Cultural Day with so much fun, laughter and exercise too.

Diovi Hare, president of the Filipino Community Association of Slave Lake, said many of their members are foreign contract workers affected by the moratorium.

“This is in a way a compassionate event to give everyone an opportunity of relief,” he said pointing out that the gathering has again showed the Pinoys’ solidarity and resiliency in facing day to day challenges as workers in a foreign land.

Edmonton-based Crosstown Auto Centre also came into the picture by supporting the one-day event last August 16 that featured traditional games, a pageant and a basketball match between the visiting Crosstown Auto Centre squad led by co-captains Dodo de Guzman and PSA finals MVP Edwin Arciaga and the host team.(Moses Billacura with reports from Chester Tiongson)
