9th PAL Ladies Interclub uses reduced format
The ninth Philippine Airlines (PAL) Ladies Interclub will be held on Oct. 22-25 with a new reduced format at the Alta Vista Golf and Country Club in Pardo, Cebu City.
Representatives of 25 competing teams, including a squad from Australia, met last month to submit the club roster.
This year, the event will be played in two rounds with each team allowed to field a maximum of eight players, but only the top six scores to count for the team total.
There will be four divisions – Championship, Founders, Sportswriters and Friendship.
Manila Southwoods Masters is gunning for a fourth successive championship.
Last year, Southwoods Masters routed Cebu Country Club by 22 points.
The Molave point system will be used, according to tournament director Henry Arabelo.
The scoring format awards seven points for a double-eagle, six for an ace, five for eagle, four for birdie, three for par, two for bogey, and one for double-bogey.
Aside from Southwoods Masters and CCC, other teams seeing action are Alabang A and B, Camp Aguinaldo, Eagle Ridge, Manila Southwoods Legends, Riviera, Santa Elena, Tagaytay Highlands, the combined Valley Golfers and Country Club, and Wack-Wack from Luzon.
From Visayas, the teams are host Alta Vista, Cebu Country Club A and B, Bacolod Golf, Iloilo Golf, Negros Occidental Golf, Victorias, and Mactan.
Mindanao will be represented by Apo, Davao Golf, Pueblo de Oro, Rancho Palos Verdes, and Zamboanga.
The lone foreign team will be the Lady Eagles Australian Golfers.
Todate, the following are supporting this year’s Ladies Interclub – B/E Aerospace, Diamond Hotel Phils., Eastgate Publishing, Bluewater Maribago and Mareco Broadcasting Network (Crossover).
Present during the team captains’ meeting were Ana Leah Rodriguez, the vice chairman of the tournament, and Nimrod NL Quiñones, general manager of the host club.(PAL)
