Police investigate B&E series on University of Alberta campus

The Edmonton Police Service is investigating a series of break and enters to buildings on the University of Alberta campus.

Multiple break and enters have been reported to police throughout the months of December and January, beginning with a break and enter at the Student Union Building back on Dec. 8, 2014. In that incident, an undisclosed sum of cash was stolen from the SUB office.

On Dec. 29, 2014, at approximately 9 a.m., a total of 16 offices were broken into at one of the U of A buildings near 113 Street and 89 Avenue. In all of these incidents, damage to classroom doors and desk drawers was reported to police, though nothing appeared to be stolen.

The perpetrator(s) are also targeting laptops, many of which have been stolen from university classrooms throughout January.

Southwest Division investigators are reminding students and administrators to be vigilant and to lock up all laptops, mobile devices and classroom doors when possible.

Anyone with information about the suspect(s) responsible for this B&E series is asked to contact the Edmonton Police Service at 780-423-4567 or #377 from a mobile phone.  Anonymous information can also be submitted to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or online at www.tipsubmit.com/start.htm.
