New Apps Make it Easier for Residents to Find Their Fit at Recreation Centres

Recreation Centres Apps

The City of Edmonton has launched two new tools to make it easier for residents to customize their recreation experience.

My Rec Guide and the City of Edmonton Recreation Centres mobile app will help Edmontonians search, organize and track drop-in and registered programs the City offers, while also ensuring they have the most up-to-date information about their favourite recreation centres.

“City recreation centres and programs are very important to the daily lives of Edmonton families,” said Mayor Don Iveson. “By offering an intuitive online search and registration process and easier access to timely information through mobile devices, we will enhance people’s recreation experience and build a more active city.”

Expanding City apps and online tools is seen as an important part of becoming an open city. The new Open City initiative guides the development of innovative solutions in an effort to connect Edmontonians to City information, programs, services and engagement opportunities.

My Rec Guide

My Rec Guide is an online tool that allows Edmontonians to create personalized program guides based on their interests, age and facility choice. The tool searches all registered programs offered at City recreation centres and attractions as well as City Arts Centre classes and day camps. With an easy three-step process, users create personalized guides that include one-click access to the City’s eReg online registration system. My Rec Guide ensures residents will find the right program at the right time at the right location.

City of Edmonton Recreation Centres App

The City of Edmonton Recreation Centres mobile app allows Edmontonians to organize and discover the over 300 weekly drop-in programs at all eighteen City recreation centres. Features on the app include personalized drop-in and facility schedules, calendars, sharing features, up-to-date facility information and more.

The mobile app is available for free on iOS and Android devices, and can be downloaded through iTunes or Google Play.

Seasonal program registration dates are February 1, May 1, July 15 and November 1.
