News Release
Groat Road Closed this Weekend for Bridge Work

Drivers are advised to use alternate routes
Starting at 7:30pm on Friday, March 13, Groat Road will be closed from 107 Avenue to River Valley Road due to work on the 102 Avenue Bridge. The work is expected to be completed over the weekend; however the traffic closure may carry over to Monday, March 16.
“For safety we need to close Groat Road while our contractor lifts the steel girders into place,” said Allan Bartman, General Supervisor for Roads Design and Construction. “Crews expect to complete the work over the weekend and get traffic flowing on Groat Road for the Monday morning commute.”
A traffic update will be sent out on Sunday, March 15 to advise drivers about when the road will reopen.
Suggested detour routes during the closure include Victoria Park Road, 149 Street to Whitemud Drive, and 109 Street to the High Level Bridge. ETS Route 128 will detour to Victoria Park Road/116 Street/107 Avenue, with extra buses on Saturday, March 14 to make up for the delay. More information is available at www.takeets.com.
The Groat Road shared-use path will remain closed until the end of April.
Several night closures of Groat Road will take place next week to accommodate other bridge work. The schedule will be announced on March 15.
The new 102 Avenue Bridge is expected to open to traffic in fall 2015. For project and detour information, please visitedmonton.ca/102avenueovergroat.
