Chief Knecht to appoint four Chiefs for a Day
Four children with cancer to be honoured at EPS headquarters
Edmonton Police Service Chief Rod Knecht will preside at a special swearing-in ceremony on Tuesday, May 19 as four children with cancer will be sworn in as Chiefs for a Day.
The swearing-in ceremony will take place:
Tuesday, May 19 at 8:10 a.m.
Police Headquarters – Atrium
9620 – 103A Avenue
Each child will be outfitted in official EPS uniform, including a hat. They will look like just like senior Edmonton Police Officers in their blue pants with red stripes down the leg, blue ties, and white shirts complete with epaulets and EPS nametags.
After the swearing-in, the new ‘Chiefs’ will accompany Chief Knecht on an official inspection of the troops.
These new leaders and their parents will be available for interviews and photo opportunities immediately following the ceremonies.
There will be a photo opportunity only (no interviews) at 10:00 a.m. at EPS Vallevand Dog Kennels, 12211 – 124 Avenue.
The children will meet Police Service Dogs, witness a Tactical demonstration, and Air 1 may drop by for a visit.
The four children were selected for this honour by the Kids With Cancer Society. A very generous couple purchased the Chief for a Day package at a recent Society gala.
