At approximately 9:30 p.m. on Monday, May 18, 2015, the Edmonton Police Service received a report from a concerned citizen regarding a possible impaired driver.

EPS Traffic members conducted a vehicle stop on the suspect vehicle. A confrontation with the members occurred. An EPS member was shot and the suspect was fatally shot.

EPS members assisting at the scene transported the injured police officer to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The EPS will not be providing further comment as the Alberta Serious Incident Response Team (ASIRT) has taken the lead in this investigation.
