City expands features of Current Traffic Disruptions Map

The City of Edmonton is adding a new feature to its Current Traffic Disruptions Map so it is even more useful for motorists, cyclists and pedestrians who are planning trips on local roads. The map now highlights confirmed traffic disruptions such as collisions, stalled vehicles and other traffic incidents blocking lanes.

The map is updated every 15 minutes by the City’s Traffic Management Centre.

The Current Traffic Disruptions Map already reflects planned construction and events-related traffic disruptions, including total closures, lane closures and sidewalk closures for all roadways within Edmonton city limits. Clickable icons on the map provide detailed information about the extent of a disruption, its impact, start and finish dates (if planned), and the reason for the disruption.

The information used to generate the traffic disruptions map is also available on the City’s Open Data Catalogue, as part of the City’s ongoing Open City Initiative.
