Edmonton Marathon races into downtown August 22-23

Thousands of racers will take to the streets in downtown Edmonton August 22-23, 2015 for the Edmonton Marathon.

On Saturday, August 22, the free 3km Running Room Friendship Run is downtown and the ABC Kids event takes place at Foote Field, South University of Alberta Campus.

On Sunday, August 23, marathon, half marathon, 10K and 5K walk/run routes start downtown and wind through several of Edmonton’s historic and scenic neighbourhoods.

Road Closures and Traffic Delays

All race routes start and end at the Shaw Conference Centre at 97 Street and Jasper Avenue. Expect road closures and delays in the downtown area and extending east along the river valley to 30 Street, and south west to 142 Street and 87 Avenue. The biggest impact will be on Sunday, August 23 from 6 a.m. – 4 p.m. See Edmonton Traffic Disruptions for full details on special event road closures.

ETS Bus Detours

On Saturday, August 22, from 5 a.m. to end of service, buses will be detoured along Jasper Avenue between 97 and 99 Street, including routes 2, 3, 5, 120 and 309.

On Sunday, August 23, routes 2, 3, 5, 100 and 120 are detoured all day, and routes 1, 3, and 140 are detoured from 5 a.m.4 p.m.

Parking

Parking restrictions on the race routes start on Friday, August 21, 2015. Illegally parked cars will be towed.

Weekend rates at downtown parkades and meters are available. Please obey all posted signs.
