The Philippine Consulate General-Calgary Office has served 549 applicants in its Consular Outreach recently in Edmonton in coordination with the Duterte Volunteers Alberta Canada.
Consul Julius Torres and Benjamin Lindo, head organizer of the Duterte Volunteers, with the assistance of consulate staff and Duterte volunteers helped in the passport renewal and other services last November 11 to 13.
Majority of the applicants are temporary foreign workers in Alberta who now has saved a lot of hard-earned money by not flying to the main Consular office in Vancouver.
The PCG Vancouver has been doing Consular Outreach Services to the Filipinos in Western Canada for years and the growing needs in Alberta has prompted organizations like the Migrante Alberta to appeal to the Philippine government to have a satellite consular office in Alberta.
Alberta Province has an estimated population of 100,000 Filipinos.
“We will continue to serve the Filipino community the best that we can,” Lindo told the pinoyedmontonnews.com.(Moses Billacura with reports, photos from B.Lindo)
