DONATE A RIDE provides transit to less fortunate
Every year, thousands of Edmontonians are in crucial need of public transportation to access employment, educational, medical and social services. The DONATE A RIDE campaign, now in its 21st year, helps those individuals by providing them with bus tickets.
From December 19, 2016 to January 31, 2017, transit riders can place donations in ETS fare boxes using DONATE A RIDE envelopes provided by bus operators. Collected donations will be distributed by 74 community agencies that provide services to low-income individuals and families, including seniors and at-risk youth.
Since the program’s inception in 1996, $2.3 million worth of transit tickets have been distributed. This continuous generosity of sponsors and individual donors helps improve the quality of life of those in need of urgent, short-term travel assistance.
Donations to DONATE A RIDE can also be made securely online throughout the year.
