Wright-less Phoenix battles Meralco as PBA regular season resumes

By Ivan Saldajeno

MANILA (Philippines News Agency) –Phoenix will be without rookie star Matt Wright when the team goes up against Meralco as the PBA Commissioner’s Cup resumes on Wednesday night at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City.

Wright was called up to Gilas’ “SEABA 12” on Friday night during the All-Star Week and had to be released by the Fuel Masters for the national team, making him the key absence for their 7 p.m. meeting against the Bolts, in which a win can strengthen their bid to make the Top 6, which could keep them out of a twice-to-beat disadvantage in the next round.

Meralco, meanwhile, has its sights set on a twice-to-beat advantage in the quarterfinals, and a win will draw the team closer to the Top 2.

In the first game at 4:15 p.m., NLEX and Blackwater will try to salvage their flickering playoff hopes.(PNA)
