NGCP conducts relief ops for evacuees from Marawi City
MANILA(Philippines News Agency) — The National Grid Corp. of the Philippines (NGCP) has extended food packs and clothing to residents of Marawi City who have fled to Iligan City and Lanao del Norte to escape the military operations to quash the terrorist Maute Group.
In a news release issued Thursday, the grid operator said that last May 26-27, its relief operations team distributed the relief goods to 125 evacuees taking shelter at the gym in Barangay Maria Cristina and 223 evacuees housed at the Iligan National School of Fisheries in Barangay Buru-un, both in Iligan City.
The activity, conducted in coordination with local barangay and city officials, the social welfare department, police and military, also reached 59 Marawi families housed at the Balo-i municipal gym and 47 families on pre-emptive evacuation from Barangay Pagayawan, Bacolod, both in Lanao del Norte.
The company said it aims to visit more evacuation centers in the next few days. (NGCP-PR)#DefendRepublic
