EDMONTON — Medicus Family Health Clinic had its grand opening last July 29 with a Tagalog-speaking family physician leading it as its medical director.
Dr. Joel San Agustin, who practiced in the Philippines and in the United Kingdom as a nurse, then later on as a doctor, has started serving Edmontonians at Medicus since its soft opening on June 21.
“I’m grateful for where I am now. I’m very grateful for everything,” said Dr. San Agustin, who moved to Canada with his family in June of 2015.
The road to becoming a physician was never easy but as a nine-year-old child, he started telling himself that one day he will become a physician.
He fulfilled his promise to his parents by becoming one in 2003 in the Philippines and as a general practitioner in the UK in 2009. “I really wanted to be a doctor and to care for other people,” he said.
His special interests include palliative medicine and mental health.
Medicus Family Health Clinic, which will also have pharmacy services, is located at Unit 2, 1536-91 Street SW.
The grand opening was held July 29 and graced by Philippine Consul General Julius Torres whose office is serving the Filipino communities in Alberta and Saskatchewan Provinces.
Just recently another Tagalog-speaking internal medicine specialist, Dr.Mary Jean Silvano.(pinoy edmonton news)
