The Congress of the Philippine Associations in Alberta(COPAA), Triskelion Alumni Organization and Friends, MRD Production and Philippine Arts Council of Edmonton successfully hosted the “Simbang Gabi” last night at the St.Theresa’s Parish.
Deacon Tony Obleada said an estimated 600 parishioners joined the service officated by Fr.Joy Vadakkan Poulose, CFIC. The Couples for Christ(CFC) served as choir.
“We had around 800 on the first night of “Simbang Gabi”, and around 600 on the second night,” he said.
Lito Velasco, editor of the Alberta Filipino Journal, thanked the organizations for serving as sponsors of the event. “Salamat specially sa mga volunteers natin,” he said.
Specially-made “suman”, “sopas” and bread were served after the mass.
The “Simbang Gabi” is a Filipino tradition of observing nine Novena masses that started Dec.15 and ending on Dec.23.(p.e.n.)
