Alberta Medical Supplies Inc. books ticket to PSA finals
EDMONTON — Quality Sleep Care Group’s Alberta Medical Supplies Inc. stunned tournament favorite Amirax Terror Group in a tightly-contested semifinal game, 81-75, Sunday to advance to the Open Division 2A finals of the 2017 Philippine Sport Association Fall/Winter Basketball League.
Samson King Jr. topscored for Alberta Medical with 25 points and Richard Haro, Luigi Restauro and Karl Lopez pumped in the crucial points in the last 1:11 of the fourth quarter to secure their ticket to the finals on January 7 next year against H&B.
Haro scored back-to-back baskets, 68-55, 7:44 remaining and Lopez buried a three-point shot, 71-55 to keep Amirax at bay. Amirax threatened by slicing the lead to just two, 75-73, 1:44 left but King and Restauro answered quickly, 79-73 and from there, their rivals were forced to give up fouls and Haro sank the free throws to seal the victory.
“The boys played well in the final quarter on defense and we are happy to beat the No.1 seed in our bracket,” said Mark Enrile.
AMS, a medical supplies supplier licensed by the Alberta Health Services, stopped Full Force in the quarterfinal, 101-88 to move to the semis.
“We wish AMS all the best in the finals,” said AMS marketing director Kris Salumbides.
