Pagasa: ‘Vinta’ reintensified into tropical storm, now over Sulu Sea

“VINTA” HAS REINTENSIFIED INTO A TROPICAL STORM AND IS NOW OVER THE SULU SEA.

  • Scattered to widespread moderate to heavy rains will prevail over Palawan and Zamboanga Peninsula, while scattered light to moderate with at times heavy rains is expected over Visayas, Bicol region, and the rest of Mindanao and of MIMAROPA within 24 hours. Residents of these areas must take appropriate actions against flooding and landslides, coordinate with their respective local disaster risk reduction and management offices, and continue monitoring for updates.
  • Sea travel remains risky over the seaboards of areas under Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal (TCWS).

Location of eye/center: At 1:00 AM today, the center of Tropical Storm “VINTA” was estimated based on all available data at 145 km North Northwest of Zamboanga City, Zamboanga del Sur (08.0 °N, 121.4 °E)
Strength: Maximum sustained winds of 65 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 80 kph
Forecast Movement: Forecast to move West at 20 kph
Forecast Positions:
  • 24 Hour(Tonight): 235 km Southwest of Puerto Princesa City, Palawan(8.2°N, 117.3°E)
  • 48 Hour(Sunday evening):370 km South Southwest of Pagasa Island, Palawan (OUTSIDE PAR)(8.0°N, 112.7°E)
