Transit service adjusts for the holiday season

In preparation for the holiday season, Edmonton Transit Service (ETS) will adjust its service levels to accommodate changes in rider usage over the winter break.

From December 25 to January 5, most routes will operate on reduced schedules, while all school routes and trips will be cancelled to align with school breaks. Regular transit schedules resume on January 6, 2018.

Edmontonians are encouraged to plan for a safe ride home over the holidays, which could include taking public transit. Late Night Owl Service operates five major bus routes every day until 3 a.m.

On New Year’s Eve, transit is free after 5 p.m. and several evening bus routes will run until approximately 3:30 a.m. To take in the New Year’s Eve fireworks at the Alberta Legislature Grounds, take the LRT to Grandin station. Starting at 5 p.m., ETS shuttle service is also available from Downtown (100 Street/102 Avenue) to Government Centre. Additional service will be provided on Routes 1, 5, 8 and 9, which travel to and from Downtown.

Transit riders are encouraged to double check their route schedules and use real-time tools to track their bus anywhere, anytime.
