Edmontonians invited to get on board
The City of Edmonton’s civic boards are recruiting volunteer members to bring their passion to shape Edmonton’s future.
Twelve of Edmonton’s 20 civic boards are recruiting new members including the Naming Committee, the Women’s Advocacy Voice of Edmonton Committee, the Edmonton Historical Board, Energy Transition Climate Resilience Committee, Edmonton Public Library Board and several others. There are 34 positions in total available this year. A full list of boards recruiting new volunteer members and application details are available at edmonton.ca/boards.
Civic boards are diverse, independent and impartial—made up of dedicated Edmontonians with varied skills, backgrounds and experience. Those interested in helping to shape Edmonton’s future, are encouraged to apply. The application deadline is February 2, 2020.
Applicants need to complete an application and provide a resume and three letters of reference. Interested applicants can apply for a position on up to three boards but can only serve on one board at a time.
Being a board member provides the opportunity to sharpen leadership and business skills and gain a broader understanding of municipal government processes.
Time commitments vary depending on the board. Most boards have monthly meetings and additional subcommittee meetings throughout the year.
The number and qualifications of positions available for new members vary from board to board and may change from year to year depending on the needs of the board.
