Eight Albertans to receive Alberta’s highest honour
Eight remarkable Albertans will become members of the Alberta Order of Excellence in 2023.
The Order is the province’s highest honour a citizen can receive and is an official part of the Canadian Honours System.
“These outstanding Albertans have enriched our collective journey through their dedication, innovation and leadership. May their stories inspire us all to build vibrant and compassionate communities.”

Jim Carter, Edmonton
Max Foran, Priddis
Stephen Harper, Bragg Creek
Joe Lukacs, Calgary
Audrey McFarlane, Cold Lake
Claudette Tardif, Calgary
Stella Thompson, Calgary
Angus Watt, Edmonton
The investiture ceremony will be held in Edmonton in October. This will bring the total membership of the Alberta Order of Excellence to 212.
