Mabuhay Picnic Park Project
Update as of 06 June 2023.

Hello everyone,

Here is an update from the Technical Working Group for the Mabuhay Picnic Park Project as of 06 June 2023.

First and foremost, I would like to thank all of you for your utmost cooperation and help in sending in your Letters of Support and Signature campaign. So far, here is the list of individuals, businesses, organizations and politicians that we have received.

Some of you may wonder why was the word “MABUHAY” chosen? Result of the survey done by 400 plus participants as shown below where majority are at the age of 25 to 40 years old. MABUHAY stands out due to its meaning, “Welcome” or “Long Live”.

SIGNATURE CAMPAIGN

We have gathered 1080 signatures so far in this campaign. We need to show the City of Edmonton at least 4% to 5% of 80,000 Filipinos in Edmonton who are interested in this Parkland Project. It will be greatly appreciated if you can assist in gathering more signatures and letters to reach our goals.

LAUREL COMMUNITY LEAGUE

There has been a turn of events with the league. They elected a new set of officers two weeks ago which in our case went back to zero connections. We need to build a rapport with them in order to get their support. This will take time as they need to discuss and vote for our proposal. We need to think of our strategies to get this going as soon as possible. The league’s approval is the ONLY one missing in the application. If you happen to know anyone living in the area, we are open to talk to them to get involved and build relationships with the league.

TWG VOLUNTEERS

The Technical Working Group is looking for volunteers to gather signatures and volunteer to upcoming events at the Laurel Community (Southeast Edmonton). I have attached the SIGNATURE CAMPAIGN FORM and LETTER OF SUPPORT FORM for your reference. If you are interested, please contact me at your convenience.

LET’S MAKE IT HAPPEN!

Thank you and Best regards,
