ALBERTA NDP APPOINTS CAUCUS LEADERSHIP TEAM, CRITIC ROLES
EDMONTON – Alberta NDP Leader Rachel Notley announced Tuesday the Caucus leadership team, critic roles and some initial responsibilities for her 38-member team, the largest Official Opposition in the province’s history.
“We have an incredible, diverse and committed Caucus — and we are focused on what matters to Albertans,” Notley said. “We promised a better future for Albertans and that’s exactly what we intend to deliver for them.
“We will not only be the largest Official Opposition in Alberta history, but also the most effective.”
Notley said some initial priorities for the Caucus as a whole will be ending the crisis in healthcare, delivering better public education, pushing for real action to lower costs for Albertans and providing more affordable housing.
Notley said the Caucus will also focus on developing ideas to create good-paying jobs in critical economic sectors and on holding Premier Danielle Smith to account for breaking the law and threatening Alberta’s democracy.
“We have so much work to do,” Notley said. “We will hold the government to account and demand better for Albertans while also putting forward our own ideas.
“I am so excited for this team to come together and represent Albertans while putting ourselves in a position to form the next provincial government.”
