Edmonton Fire welcomes 23 new members to serve our community

Edmonton Fire Rescue Services (EFRS) officially welcomed 23 new members who will serve the city’s frontlines, educate the public about fire safety and prevention and be the first voice people hear when they need emergency assistance.

The 16 new firefighters, four fire prevention officers and three emergency communications specialists will join the City’s service after extensive training and preparation.

“Our service and our fire community is made up of dedicated members and those passionate about making a difference. They are individuals who have dedicated themselves to the highest level of service — running towards danger and supporting people during their worst day and providing comfort,” said Acting Fire Chief Tiffany Edgecombe, Edmonton Fire Rescue Services. “Each of our recruits has proven themselves through training and has demonstrated that they can make it through any challenge. They have all brought professionalism, adaptability and innovation. They have demonstrated success as individuals and a team, showing exemplary leadership skills, effective communication, emotional intelligence and customer service. They bring empathy, compassion and the ability to work as a team in service of Edmontonians and we are excited to welcome them to Edmonton Fire Rescue Services.”

The new firefighters will be assigned to stations across Edmonton, while the new fire prevention officers will provide inspection services and the emergency communications specialists will be working in EFRS’ Emergency Response Communication Center.
