City of Edmonton continues to support Jasper and Jasper National Park wildfire response

The City of Edmonton is deploying Edmonton Fire and Rescue Services resources and equipment to support the ongoing efforts in the Town of Jasper and Jasper National Park. Late tonight a number of human resources, equipment and supplies will arrive in town to support structural firefighting efforts. The City of Edmonton is providing:

Two – Type One engines with four staff on each
One – platform aerial apparatus with four staff
One – Tahoe with a District Chief
One – Service Truck with a Mechanic
One – Pick up and Trailer with spare equipment, logistics supplies, PPE, and cots for EFRS members
50 cots for Emergency Social Services

“Our hearts are with the community of Jasper as they face this devastating evening.” said Eddie Robar, Interim City Manager. “We are here to offer our support during this difficult time.”

The City of Edmonton continues to welcome evacuees at Kennedale Site, Building #2, 12814-58 Street, and support will be available 24/7.

The Kennedale location will provide all immediate needs for evacuees including coordination of lodging and funding for food, water, clothing and hygiene items, pet day care and health care. Evacuees can bring their pets, and are encouraged to not leave animals in vehicles due to the extreme weather conditions.

Edmontonians are asked not to bring donations of any kind. Donations and volunteers are not needed at this time.
