Autumn on Your Streets
Fall is in the air but Edmontonians can continue enjoying vibrant, accessible spaces and active transportation. The City has many initiatives that support Edmontonians walking, biking, e-biking, e-scooting or simply spending time outside through the fall. Many of these support the City Plan’s goal of 50 per cent of daily trips made by transit and active forms of transportation.
Shared Micromobility Program
The City welcomed back e-scooters and e-bikes in May. The City’s micromobility vendors, Bird Canada, Lime and Neuron, have a year-round contract allowing vendors to keep fleets on the streets as long as the weather allows.
Riders can continue to use shared pathways, bike lanes and roads with speed limits of 50 km/h or less and should ensure sidewalks and building entrances are not blocked when parking. Parking and riding rules are communicated with riders through the vendors’ apps and on edmonton.ca/scooters.
Patios on Public Spaces
Patio season continues so Edmontonians can enjoy these outdoor spaces into the fall. Businesses with seasonal patios can operate on public streets, sidewalks and alleyways until October 31 while businesses with year-round patios can operate in the winter. Looking for a patio? Visit edmonton.ca/Patios.
Vibrant Streets
Keep an eye out for new decorative crosswalks, alleyways and traffic control boxes. This season, more than 20 crosswalks/alleyways were painted, and more than 50 traffic control boxes were wrapped with vibrant artwork. A map of locations is available at edmonton.ca/VibrantStreets.
Parking
Whether heading downtown for a hockey game or shopping on Whyte Avenue, Edmontonians can use the HotSpot App as a quick and easy way to pay for EPark across the city. Other payment options available to customers include paying at EPark machines or online at htsp.ca/ed. More information at edmonton.ca/epark.
