News Release
Edmonton, March 25, 2025 — Community advocate and former MLA Rod Loyola is proud to announce his candidacy in Edmonton Gateway for the Liberal Party of Canada in the upcoming federal election. With a long history of public service and a deep commitment to building a fairer, more inclusive Canada, Loyola is ready to fight for Edmontonians on the national stage.
“As a lifelong advocate for social justice, workers’ rights, and equitable policies, I am excited to take this next step in serving my community and country,” said Loyola. “Canada faces significant challenges, and we need leadership that prioritizes the needs of everyday people—affordable housing, strong public services, and a just transition to a sustainable economy. I am ready to fight for these priorities in Ottawa.”
Loyola has dedicated his career to public service, previously representing Edmonton-Ellerslie as an NDP MLA from 2015 to 2025. His work has focused on advocating for working families, strengthening public healthcare and education, and championing policies that uplift marginalized communities. Now, he is stepping forward as a federal Liberal candidate, to stand up against Trump and build a brighter future for all Canadians.
Loyola’s campaign will focus on key issues such as affordability, climate action, and rebuilding trust in government through transparency and accountability. Together, we can build a stronger, more united Canada.
