Calling high school students: Applications to become an Edmonton Fire Cadet now open
High school students looking to get first-hand experience in a career in emergency services are invited to apply for Edmonton Fire Rescue Services’ Fire Cadet program.
This program provides unique coursework that allows students to develop leadership skills, become involved in the community and meet new, like-minded people.
Through a mix of in-class learning and hands-on experiences, students in grades 10 to 12 learn the importance of mental and physical wellness and teamwork, all while building employment skills and experiencing the day-to-day work of a firefighter.
Fire cadets can earn up to six high school credits for involvement in the two-semester, 10-month program, beginning in September.
Students are invited to apply by April 30. Those selected for an interview will be invited to participate in a physical fitness test.
