WHY YOUR LOCAL VOTE COULD ALSO SAVE THE NATION
Don’t Elect Marcos-Aligned Local Officials—Here’s Why
OPINION | By Rob Rances
This May 12, your city could be the last battleground for Philippine democracy.
They may not say “Marcos” out loud. Hindi rin sila pareho ng kulay. Pero marami sa kanila, kabitan ng parehong political machinery—funded by the same elites, directed by the same power players, at protektado ng parehong kampo.
Kapag sila ang naupo, eto ang mangyayari:
Your congressman, mayor, vice mayor, and councilors—magiging echo chamber ng palasyo. Hindi na boses ng tao.
This is not some wild theory. Nangyayari na ’to.
And if we don’t act, we might wake up to a country na isang pangalan lang ang pinagsisilbihan ng buong sistema—at ang mga lokal na opisyal ay naging pawns na lang. This is grassroots capture.
SO, SINO ANG DAPAT IBOTO?
Vote for the ones who still know how to fight.
Vote for Duterte-aligned local officials.
Not because they’re perfect, but because sila ang natitirang handang tumayo kontra sa Marcos-Romualdez na machinery.
Sila ang:
- Grounded in real service, hindi pa-picture lang sa ribbon-cutting.
- Tapat sa tao, hindi sunud-sunuran sa palasyo.
- Unang tumatanggi, huling sumusuko—kahit kapalit ay budget cuts or political pressure.
They understand what sovereignty means—not just in Manila, but sa mismong lungsod mo.
May tapang. May paninindigan. Hindi yumuyuko sa kapangyarihan. Hindi natutulog sa laban.
Voting for them isn’t just a protest—it’s protection.
It’s your way of keeping the last doors open
habang paisa-isang isinasara ang iba.
Wag mong maliitin ang boto mo sa lungsod.
It may look small—but it could stop the total takeover of everything.
This May 12, vote wisely.
Vote like your freedom depends on it—because this time, it just might.
