Triple threat, FIBA 3×3 is a slam dunk for Alberta
Alberta will host the 2025 FIBA 3×3 World Tour and Women’s Series, welcoming 200 of the world’s top athletes.
Making its fifth appearance in Alberta’s capital, the FIBA 3×3 World Tour and Women’s Series events are set to take over the Ice Palace at West Edmonton Mall from July 31 to Aug. 3. This dynamic basketball competition will cement the province’s reputation as a world-class destination for major sport events.
Alberta’s government contributed $250,000 in funding through the Major Sport Event grant program to support the tournaments. This grant program provides financial assistance to support organizations in planning and hosting national and international competitions in Alberta.

The Hoop City 3×3 Festival, hosted by the 3×3 Basketball Association in collaboration with Explore Edmonton, will feature 12 of the world’s top men’s and women’s 3×3 basketball teams. This includes teams from Serbia, Japan, Lithuania and France. The competition is anticipated to welcome more than 8,000 spectators on site, and a global viewership of up to 500,000. The event is projected to deliver a major boost to Edmonton’s visitor economy with up to $4.3 million in economic impact, driving local business activity across the city.

Canada’s 3×3 Women’s National Team will take to the court Aug. 1 and 2, continuing its impressive run following a bronze-medal finish at the 2025 FIBA 3×3 World Cup in June and a strong showing at the 2024 Olympic Games last summer. The team boasts a strong lineup of Alberta athletes; including Edmonton’s Katherine Plouffe and Lethbridge players Paige Crozon and Kacie Bosch.
