Edmonton Elections helping voters show up
Edmonton Elections is taking steps to help Edmontonians show up for the 2025 Edmonton Election.
The Canada Post strike impacts some aspects of the 2025 Edmonton Election, including the potential cancellation of voter information cards distributed to approximately 700,000 eligible voters.
Voter information is available at edmonton.ca/forvoters, which includes a “Where to Vote” tool and information on ID requirements.
“Edmonton shows up for elections, and information is a key part of making that happen,” said Aileen Giesbrecht, Returning Officer for Edmonton Elections. “We’re making sure Edmontonians have what they need to show up, and to help their neighbours, friends and family.”
Edmonton Elections is taking other steps to minimize impacts of the disruption:
Special ballots: All special ballots must be received by 7 p.m. on October 20.
Special ballots can be dropped off at the Edmonton Elections office. Office hours have been extended from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on weekdays and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays.
Applicants can contact Edmonton Elections to switch their delivery method from ‘mail’ to ‘pick up’ from the Elections Office and immediately complete the package on site, or return it later.
Alternate arrangements are being made to distribute special ballot packages to applicants who can not pick up their application.
Increased Communications: Edmonton Elections will be increasing communications helping Edmontonians learn where and when to vote.
Increased digital ads, advertising on social media and digital billboards.
Voter information postcards and posters will be made available at all EPL locations, City of Edmonton Recreation Centres and potentially other locations.
Eligible voters can check the Where to Vote tool or call 311 to confirm their ‘where to vote’ information
