Phase 1 parking ban ending December 22 at 7 a.m.

The citywide Phase 1 parking ban will conclude on Monday, December 22, 2025 at 7 a.m.

The parking ban was required to clear snow and ice accumulation from arterial roads, collector roads, bus routes and roads within business improvement areas.

The City is not activating a Phase 2 parking ban for residential and industrial roads at this time.

Ongoing maintenance and the application of traction materials continue as City crews work 24 hours a day to maintain more than 12,000 km of roadways and 500 km of active pathways.

The City is assessing windrows in Edmonton’s 634 school zones. For school zones with large windrows, heavy equipment will stack and remove snow to ensure safety when school resumes. Street parking in those zones is prohibited while the work is ongoing and will be indicated by temporary “no parking” signs. Parking may resume after the school zone clearing is completed. The school zone clearing operations will run daily from December 22 to January 4.

The City encourages residents to report winter road concerns through 311. This allows crews to identify trends, coordinate responses and ensure the most efficient service delivery.

Property owners and residents are reminded to continue clearing sidewalks adjacent to their properties after every snowfall. Your cooperation ensures improved accessibility for your community, front-line workers and people with mobility challenges.
