Extreme weather response lifted December 26, 9 AM

With temperatures expected to improve next week, the City of Edmonton deactivated its extreme weather response on Friday, December 26 at 9 a.m. The final night of operation for the expanded overnight shuttle service (west route) will be Friday, December 26 with service starting that evening and ending the morning of Saturday, December 27

The extreme weather response was activated on Friday, December 19 due to the extreme cold. The deactivation of the extreme weather response is being announced today to give individuals time to adjust their plans for accessing shelter.

The winter response will continue to include:

Winter shelter shuttle
Two shelter shuttles along the north and south routes run nightly from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. until March 31, providing transportation to available shelter spaces
A 2/7 Hope Mission shuttle along a west route until March 31, 2026, providing transportation to shelters, support services, and healthcare providers.
From 12:45 to 3:30 a.m., the north and south winter shelter shuttles focus on transporting people from transit stations to shelters based on need and are not on a set route.
