Tell us what matters to you: City launches public engagement on the 2027-2030 budget
The City is building the 2027-2030 budget this year and wants to hear from Edmontonians. The budget sets out services and construction projects over the next four years, along with the property taxes and user fees needed to pay for them.
From March 23 to May 1, Edmontonians can provide input through in-person and online public engagement opportunities.
“Public engagement is a key part of a year-long process to build the budget,” said Stacey Padbury, Chief Financial Officer and Deputy City Manager of Financial and Corporate Services. “Throughout the year we’ll have regular touchpoints with Council and it’s critical that we know what matters most to Edmontonians as we make decisions on the budget.”
The upcoming budget will have to balance maintaining the programs, services and construction projects that Edmontonians use every day with the realities of inflationary pressures, rapid population growth and evolving service needs.
“City Council is looking forward to talking to Edmontonians about the budget,” said Mayor Andrew Knack. “Public engagement is vital to building a budget that reflects the demands of our growing city. We want to hear from as many Edmontonians as possible to ensure we have a diverse representation of feedback. We will be attending engagement sessions in each ward throughout the month of April. If you can’t make your ward session, you can share your feedback online. By sharing your voice, you are helping build a stronger Edmonton, and we could not be more grateful.”
