Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) has posted important information for foreign nationals to “immigrate the right way” but unfortunately, Filipinos have fallen victims to fraudsters.
The Edmonton Sun reported on January 6 that two Filipinos have fallen victims to an Edmonton fraudster who “forged the signature of a dead man while acting as a bogus immigration consultant for foreign workers”.
The news report was circulated by the Kabisig Society of Fort Saskatchewan, a group of Filipinos living in Alberta Province, with the hope that no other Filipinos finding themselves as victims.
The CIC website says immigrating the right way comes with protecting yourself from fraud.”Fraud is a crime in Canada and it weakens the immigration system, costs taxpayers money, and slows down processing of valid applications”.
