You won’t see his name hanging on a wall before but this time, it’s entirely a different ballgame.
On Saturday night, hundreds of fans saw the name Darren at the Mirage Banquet Hall and confirmed they are in the right venue. Many came from Saskatoon, Fort McMurray, Bonnyville, Red Deer and from other towns who braved the bad road conditions in Edmonton because of the first day of snow.
They were not disappointed.
Despite nursing a cold, Voice Kids Philippines runner-up Darren Espanto pumped up the crowd with his own rendition of “What Makes You Beautiful” by One Direction at around 8 p.m. and for the next two hours, Filipino-Albertans including non-Filipino fans had the time of their lives.
The 13-year-old fast-rising singing sensation, discovered by Pinoy Singing Sensation founder Tony Surtida at the age of 10, belted out top Filipino songs and his winning song “Listen” by Beyonce to the delight of the crowd in his homecoming concert after placing second in the Voice Kids Philippines.
Adding more color to his performance was his four-year-old sister Lynelle who belted out an Ariana Grande,”Break Free”, that sent the crowd into wild cheers. Lynelle has been requesting her Kuya Darren to include her in his concert. Her wish was finally granted.

Thank you for featuring Darren’s concert in Edmonton. However, some informations are incorrect. Darren is 13 years old and not 14. Listen is by Beyonce and not from Christina Aguilera.
Thanks for the information Alice!
I’ll make the necessary corrections.
