Environment Canada: Freezing rain warning in effect for Edmonton, St.Albert, Sherwood Park

Freezing rain warning in effect for:

  • City of Edmonton – St. Albert – Sherwood Park

Freezing rain is expected or occurring.

A band of freezing rain has developed over Grande Prairie and Peace River and will slump southeastwards through the night. The eastward extent will be close to Edmonton and will be monitored through the night. Freezing rain will end by Saturday morning in northern Alberta but may linger through portions of central Alberta early Saturday.

Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become icy and slippery. Take extra care when walking or driving in affected areas.

Freezing Rain Warnings are issued when rain falling in sub-zero temperatures creates ice build-up and icy surfaces.
