What’s Your Green Idea?
The City of Edmonton is partnering with to deliver environmental grants to help reduce Edmonton’s ecological footprint. Through EcoCity Edmonton, citizens can learn about Edmonton’s environmental vision and find inspiration to take action in their communities.
“Improving our city’s environment is everyone’s responsibility,” says Heather Wheeliker, program manager of City Environmental Strategies. “EcoCity is a great learning opportunity for Edmontonians and allows us to create positive environmental changes in our communities.”
Citizens with ideas for environmental initiatives are encouraged to join forces with their community league, school, charity, faith institution or a non-profit to submit their ideas.
Learning sessions will educate citizens about The Way We Green, the City’s environmental strategic plan and introduce the concept of sustainability. Following the session, residents who have project ideas that help to achieve The Way We Green goals can apply, in a competitive process, to receive grant funding through Alberta Ecotrust to implement their ideas. Emphasis will be placed on encouraging projects that address energy and climate challenges. Attendance of a learning session is mandatory to be eligible for this grant.
Sessions for 2015 will be held:
- May 12, 7-9pm at Stanley Milner Public Library
- May 13, 1-3pm at the Knowledge Centre, 2nd Floor HSBC Building, 10250-101 Street
