Edson Filipino Inter-Town basketball league starts on a high note

The air was filled with excitement and everyone felt the spirit of camaraderie as eight teams attended the formal opening of the two-day Edson Filipino Inter-Town Basketball League, Saturday, at the Holy Redeemer Catholic School.

Players did not mind travelling for hours just to grace the opening ceremony and get the chance to play with fellow Filipinos, known for their love of basketball.

Rodel Gravides, who spoke on behalf of the organizing committee, kept thanking the teams from Slave Lake led by Neil Cruz, Drayton Valley led by Bong Biala, Whitecourt led by Ken Berdilas,  Hinton led by Louie Ferol, Grande Prairie led by Ervin Hinojas Lanada and Edmonton led by Joey Doctolero and Gary Perpetua of PSA and Chester Tiongson of Crosstown Auto Centre for honoring their invitation and making sure that their event becomes successful.

“We are grateful to see many long-time friends and meet new acquaintances this day,” said Gravides, whose committee organized the league for the second straight year.

He expressed his appreciation to Crosstown Auto Centre through president Joe Medina for sponsoring the trophies, ATB Financial through Albert Bonus and Terry Yu for providing the uniforms for the host Edson team, Mr.Darci for the committee uniforms, Tim Horton’s and Subway.(pinoy edmonton news)
