PRRD extends cash assistance to slain cop, 2 others wounded in line of duty in N. Cotabato
KIDAPAWAN CITY (Philippines News Agency) — President Rodrigo Duterte has extended some PHP450,000 financial assistance to the bereaved family of PO1 Jerome Ruefa and two other policemen who were wounded during pursuit operation against the killers of a government worker last Feb. 1 in M’lang, North Cotabato.
Mr. Duterte visited the wake of Ruefa at his house in the poblacion area and personally gave PHP 250,000 cash assistance to the family of the slain cop.
He also proceeded to the Kidapawan Medical Specialists Medical Center where the wounded PO2 Joselex Avina, 42, and PO1 Anglito Edep, 29, were confined and gave each PHP100,000 plus PHP10,000 daily allowance for the duration of their hospital confinement.
The President also committed to shoulder the full medical expenses of both cops.
The families of the victims were surprised with the President’s visit, which took place right after he led the switch-on ceremony of the newly built solar powered-irrigation project in the adjacent town of M’lang, where he was guest of honor.
“It’s not about their rank, I showed them this importance because we told them to work for me for being their Commander-In-Chief,” the President stressed.
President Duterte stayed for about an hour at the hospital before he flew back to Davao City via the presidential chopper. (PNA)
