Bacolod City to provide jobs, livelihood aid to successful drug rehab participants

BACOLOD CITY (Philippines News Agency) — The City of Bacolod will provide jobs and livelihood assistance to the 82 successful participants of the eight-week out-patient rehabilitation program conducted in the barangays.
The out-patient rehabilitation program is being carried out b the City Anti-Drug Abuse Council (CADAC) Committee on Rehabilitation headed by Executive Assistant Rodel Parcon facilitates the conduct of Community-Based Drug Rehabilitation Program (CBDRP).
Ninety-one drug dependents profiled for the CBDRP completed the eight-week program which ended in April.
On Tuesday, they underwent a drug test conducted by personnel of City Health Office (CHO). Results showed that 82 of the 91 yielded negative results while nine were still found positive for drug use.
Those who tested negative will either be employed under the city government or will receive livelihood aid.
The 91 who underwent rehabilitation were among those who surrendered through the “Oplan Tokhang” of the Philippine National Police. They yielded to the various police stations of Bacolod City Police Office.
Another group of drug surrenderers will undergo profiling and screening this May for the second batch of participants for the CBDRP.
The CBDRP is one of the initiatives launched by the CADAC here to strengthen the local anti-drug campaign in support of Duterte administration’s war on drugs.
Mayor Evelio Leonardia, who chairs the CADAC, said the city government would always support the surrenderers in their recovery from drug dependence as he congratulated them for taking an important step to change their lives for the better.(PNA)#REALNUMBERS
