Philippine Men’s Ice Hockey team charms

MANILA (Philippines News Agency) — Teamwork and solid defense keyed Philippine men’s ice hockey team “Pilipinas” to advance to the next stage with a thrilling 3-2 victory against Seoul Thunders (Korea) in the Open category in the Philippine Ice Hockey Tournament being played at the SM Megamall.
The three-day tournament will serve as the final tune-up of Team Pilipinas in the forthcoming 29th edition of Southeast Asian Games in Kuala Lumpur.
Other teams seeing action in the Open division of the event organized by Philippine Federation of Ice Hockey League Inc. include Pandoo and Sting of Singapore, Seoul Thunders of Korea, Europe, Canada and Islanders (Philippines).
Tournament director Francois Gautier said , the game format calls for a single round robin, teams that will score four to five wins will vie for the top honor in the event supported by SM and Flying V.

“It gives us great joy to see that over the years, the number of ice sports enthusiasts continues to grow and that they are able to connect realize their passion,” he added.
Francis Sy, president of the local ice hockey federation, said this type of high level competition will further developed the skills of local talents.
He also expressed his gratitude to the sponsors’ support, the sporting community and “ice hockey families.” (PNA)
