6 Miascor staff charged with theft at Clark Airport
CLARK, Pampanga (Philippines News Agency) — Criminal charges of theft were filed here on Friday afternoon at the Prosecutors Office by the Clark International Airport Corporation (CIAC) against six employees of ground handler Miascor, not CIAC employees as earlier reported, who were involved in a baggage pilferage incident at the Clark International Airport early this week.
Miascor also filed charges of qualified theft against the same suspects after terminating their services.
The passenger’s baggage was looted inside the Miascor office at the airport terminal.
“After a thorough investigation with CIAC, we have served a notice of termination to six of our passenger service agents who admitted to pilfering the baggage of OFW Jovenil Dela Cruz of Pandi, Bulacan,” Herman Reyes, Miascor president, said.
CIAC acting president Alexander Cauguiran identified the suspects, all Miascor employees, as Tomie Toba, Andrea Pineda, Teresa Torres, Janisah Rasuman, Jelly Torres, and Mark Louis Macapagal.
The airport executive said he personally confiscated the IDs and access passes of the six Miascor staff and directed CIAC authorities to prohibit the suspects from entering airport premises.
“Thievery has no place in CIAC, whether those involved are airport staff, ground handlers or contracting parties. Let this filing of criminal charges be a warning to all,” Cauguiran said.
Miascor is the ground handler under contract with airlines that service flights in Clark and handle baggage of passengers.
On Wednesday, the company compensated the passenger from Bulacan for the lost items in the baggage amounting to PHP82,824. (PNA)
