Public Service Announcement from the City of Edmonton
Honour Our Veterans this Remembrance Day
A Remembrance Day service will be held at City Hall to honour the achievements and sacrifices of those who served our country in times of war and peace. The service will be led by the Commanding Officer of the Loyal Edmonton Regiment.
Date: Monday, November 11
Time: 10 a.m.
Location: City Room, City Hall, 1 Sir Winston Churchill Square
Please note: Seating in the City Room will start at 9:30 a.m. and will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. There will be limited standing room. Seating must be completed no later than 9:55 a.m, as the service will begin promptly at 10 a.m.
Following the service, there will be an outdoor military procession starting on the north side of City Hall, travelling south on 100 Street, then east on 102A Avenue, stopping in front of the City Hall cenotaph where wreaths will be laid. The procession will start at 10:30 a.m. and the wreath laying ceremony will start at 10:45 a.m.
Parking is free on the street, and in the City Hall and Stanley A. Milner Library parkades on Remembrance Day.
To accommodate the Remembrance Day ceremony at City Hall, 100 Street will be reduced to one lane in each direction on the morning of November 11. Additional closures will be in place due to Valley Line LRT construction at 99 Street, from 102 Avenue to 102A Avenue, as well as the west sidewalk. Please detour using 97 Street or 100 Street.
ETS Remembrance Day Services
On Monday, November 11, ETS service will operate at a reduced frequency during peak hours, with no school or post-secondary service. Buses and LRT will stop for a moment of silence at 11 a.m., if it is safe to do so.
Free transit is available all day to veterans and active members who:
Dress in military uniform or legion dress
Show a Canadian Forces or RCMP identification card
Show a National Defence Record of Service card
Show a Veterans’ card
The Edmonton Service Centre, including ETS Lost & Found, will be closed. The DATS Client Service Centre will be closed and all subscription bookings will be cancelled. If you need assistance, please call DATS at 780-496-4567, option 1.

Remembrance Day at Municipal Cemeteries
There are no ceremonies at Edmonton’s Municipal Cemeteries on Remembrance Day but they may serve as places for calm and quiet reflection. The public is encouraged to participate in other local ceremonies.
Veterans’ Week is celebrated across Canada from November 5 to 11, 2019. There are several events in Edmonton to honour the achievements and sacrifices of those who have bravely served in our country’s military. Please visit Veterans Affairs Canada for ceremonies being held in your area.
Loyal Edmonton Regiment Military Museum
The Loyal Edmonton Regiment Military Museum will be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on November 11, with tours and other activities, including a brief Remembrance ceremony at 11 a.m. Admission and parking are free.
Light the Bridge
The High Level Bridge, Walterdale Bridge, Muttart Conservatory, Rossdale Power Plant and City Hall will be lit in red on Remembrance Day in honour of the brave men and women who have served in Canada’s military.
