MANILA (Philippines News Agency)– From being under tropical cyclone wind signal (TCWS) No. 2, Batanes is now under TCWS No. 1 ahead of Severe Tropical Storm Siony’s possible exit from the Philippine area of responsibility by Friday night, the weather bureau said in its 5 p.m. bulletin. “Siony”, which packs maximum sustained winds of 95 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 115 kph, was last seen at 145 km. west-northwest of Itbayat, Batanes. The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) forecast strong breeze to near gale conditions, light to moderate with at times heavy rains, and rough to high seas to continue over Batanes.  Sea travel is risky for all types of sea craft. Light to moderate with at times heavy rains will also be experienced over the Babuyan Islands, it added.  Flooding and rain-induced landslides will likely remain during heavy or prolonged rainfall, especially in areas susceptible to these hazards. Meanwhile, rough to very rough seas will prevail over the northern seaboard of northern Luzon, making sea travel for small sea craft risky. Moderate to rough seas will continue over the western seaboard of Luzon and the eastern seaboards of southern Luzon, the Visayas, and Mindanao.  PAGASA advised mariners of small sea craft to take precautionary measures when venturing out to sea. (PNA)
