DAVAO CITY(Philippines News Agency) – At least 537,820 Dabawenyos will receive the first shots when the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) vaccines are rolled out here, the City Health Office (CHO) said Thursday.
The priority groups include 16,677 health workers, 77,189 senior citizens, 5,258 uniformed personnel, and 432,549 indigent residents.
Dr. Ashley Lopez, CHO head and focal person of the Covid-19 Task Force, said the number is expected to go up as the city government continues to fill its Covid-19 vaccination master list.
Lopez said the city government seeks to list up around 1.2 million people for the vaccination program to achieve herd immunity.
“We eyed seven sites to serve as vaccination hubs, but we will look for more areas to cater the Dabawenyos,” he said.
Meanwhile, Lopez said each of the city’s vaccination sites would be manned by a supervising physician, registration and screening staff consisting of health professionals, a counselor, and a recording and documentation personnel.
“There will also be an adverse event following the immunization (AEFI) team for monitoring and surveillance. Each site will have three teams,” he said.
Earlier, members of the Coordinated Operations to Defeat Epidemic (CODE) team lauded the city’s Covid-19 vaccination preparedness.
Department of Health (DOH) Secretary Francisco Duque III congratulated Mayor Sara Z. Duterte for her “depth orchestration” in formulating the city’s vaccines’ deployment and communication plan. (PNA)
